Do More.
So what is it that you are doing right now in life? Are you just existing or are you really living the way you were intended to live? Are you feeding yourself happiness and joy healthfully? Are you giving happiness and joy to others? Do you have too much stuff?
How do I do this?
Giving doesn't have to be much, it doesn't have to be with money either. It's really a giving of energy, time, and love. Don't make this hard.
Give a smile, a howdy, a baked good, a beef stick, a flower, a homemade card....be creative; surprise someone today with a gesture of joy. You will make a huge difference not only in their lives, but in yours.
May the joy that you give encourage others to pass the joy on!
Here are some ideas that other people are doing:
- Buy a strangers' meal at a restaurant
- Volunteer at the local mission
- Pay for someone’s groceries
- Do some yardwork for your neighbor or shovel their snow.
- Mail a postcard to a loved one.
- Pick an extra pint or two of blueberries or some other fruit or veggie and drop it off at the neighbors.
- Clean out your home and give some stuff to others in need.
- Simplify your life for everyone else's sake.
- Bring some cookies or brownies into your doctor’s office and give it to the staff there.
- Say people’s name when you talk to them, make a point to remember names.
- Read to a child
- Pick up litter and if it is recycleable, recycle it.
- Plant a tree.
- Ask questions, be a conservsationalist.
- Host a water fight at your house for the neighborhood kids.
- Give someone a hug, out of the blue….they have might needed a hug for a very long time and no one thought of doing it but YOU!
- Put a fun note under your spouses/mate/child’s pillow.
- Be kind when you drive.
- Use manners....simple but shocking to receive.
- Just smile. Closed mouth is good but teeth are better.
- Recycle for the earth's sake. God gave us the responsibility to take care of the earth.
- Think like a kid, they know what happiness and joy is all about.
He saves, he loves, he forgives. Be like HIM. |

If.....then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.....Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:1-5 NIV
Joy verses Happiness
In Psalm 4:7 from the Life Application Study Bible it talks about two kinds of joy
"- inward joy that comes from knowing and trusting God and happiness that comes as a result of pleasant circumstances. Inward joy is steady as long as we trust God; happiness is unpredictable. Inward joy defeats discouragement; happiness covers it up. Inward joy is lasting; happiness is temporary."
